HART COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met February 8th, 2000 at 5:30 p.m. in the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center.

 

Chairman Joel Moore presided with Commissioners Ken Brown, Don Burdick and Harry Hannah in attendance. Commissioner R. C. Oglesby absent due to an illness.

 

Call to Order, Welcome, Moment of Silence

 

Chairman Moore called the meeting to order, welcomed those in attendance and offered a moment of silence.

 

Approve Agenda

 

Commissioner Hannah entered a motion to approve the meeting agenda. Commissioner Burdick provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The agenda is recorded in the "1999-2000" minutes book.

 

Approve Minutes of Previous Meeting(s)

The minutes of January 17, 2000 were not available.

 

Commissioner Hannah entered a motion to approve the minutes of meetings held January 24th, 25th and 31st 2000. Commissioner Brown provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

Chairman Moore reported the Complete Count Committee for the year 2000 Census has been recently formed as follows and will meet February 10th, 2000 at 2:00 p.m.

Chairman's Report

 

Chairman Moore reported the Eggs & Issues Breakfast has been rescheduled for February 12th, 2000. He also reported the Commissioners would be attending the Legislative Breakfast in Atlanta February 15th, 2000.

 

Commissioners' Reports

 

Commissioner Burdick reported he recently attended a meeting in Banks County January 27th, 2000 and received information concerning a revolving loan program and has given it to County Administrator Gary Cobb to review.

 

He also reported Dr. Doug Bachtel spoke at the Hart Partners meeting recently and presented statistics about Hart County that was very informative.

 

Consent Agenda

 

County Administrator Gary Cobb read the consent agenda as follows:

a.                  Pre-Bills/Vehicle License Tags

b.                  2000 Bushhogging Contract

c.                  Surplus Property

 

County Administrator Gary Cobb stated he has received positive remarks concerning pre-bills for vehicle license tags. He said at least ninety percent of the tags fees are mailed in.

 

Commissioner Burdick entered a motion to approve the consent agenda. Commissioner Brown provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The consent agenda is recorded in the "1999-2000" minutes book.

New Business

a.                  First reading revision to Chapter 46, Land Development Standards

 

County Attorney Walter Gordon reported copies of the Land Development Standards are available through the county clerk. He read through the amendments to the Land Development Standards. He reported the requirements to publish the public notice in the Hartwell Sun has been met. He said the public hearing would be held February 22nd, 2000 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Chairman Moore said a committee has worked on the Land Development Standards amendment for approximately six months. He also said that state regulations for the DOT, Soil Erosion and EPD have changed and the committee made recommendations according to the state regulations.

Commissioner Brown entered a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hannah provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
