The Hart County Board of Commissioners met January 31, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center.

Chairman Joel Moore presided with Commissioners Ken Brown, Don Burdick, Harry Hannah, R. C. Oglesby in attendance. Also attending were County Administrator Gary Cobb, Public Works Director Rick Haney, Reporters Mark Lanford and Jennifer Paynter.

Chairman Moore went over the general matters of upcoming meetings, his discussion with those parties affected by the space allocation project at the courthouse and annex. There were two major agenda items.

1.                  Chapter 46 - Land Development Ordinance Update

A subcommittee of the Board of Commissioners has worked for about six months on an update to this ordinance. Their recommendations were reviewed, additions/deletions made and the County Attorney directed to prepare for the first reading of the update at the February 8, 2000 BOC meeting. A public hearing will be held on February 22, 2000.

2.                  Roads

Public Works Director Haney went over the personnel requirements for in-house paving and the cost comparison for asphalt/tar gravel paving. County Administrator Gary Cobb updated the Board on SPLOST funds. Discussion was held on reducing the number of proposed road projects to a manageable number given the funds availability. Commissioners established their district priorities.

Further discussion was scheduled for the regular Planning Session on February 7, 2000. The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
