Hart County Board of Commissioners

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met April 9th, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center.

 

·        Road issues

 

Chairman R. C. Oglesby presided with Commissioners Randy Banister, Ken Brown, Don Burdick and Joey Dorsey in attendance. Others attending were: County Administrator Gary Cobb, County Attorney Walter Gordon, County Clerk Lawana Kahn, Mark Lanford (Hartwell Sun) and Nathan Golden (Anderson Independent).

 

Chairman Oglesby called the meeting to order for the purpose of discussing road issues.

 

Chairman Oglesby suggested that the commissioners consider the following before asking the DOT for assistance.

·        Make sure that all right-of-ways have been acquired for first time paving

·        Ask for DOT assistance

·        Bid out the grading

 

Chairman Oglesby remarked that there are a number of roads on the first time paving list request that the DOT has not approved to fund.

 

Commissioners Burdick and Dorsey suggested putting together a long range plan for the new 1%SPLOST funds.

 

The Commissioners discussed submitting two miles per district for resurfacing. 

 

Chairman Oglesby is to contact the DOT officials, Representative Powell and Senator Beatty to schedule a meeting April 27th or May 1st to present the first time paving road list.

 

·        Executive session

 

Commissioner Burdick entered a motion to exit into executive session for the purpose of litigation matters as required by O.C.G.A. 50-14-2, 50-14-3 and 50-14-4(b). Commissioner Banister provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously.  The resolution and affidavit is recorded in the minutes book.

 

All commissioners were present during executive session.

 

Commissioner Burdick entered a motion to exit executive session and adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Brown provided a second to the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
