Planning Session

 

Meeting was opened at 4:10 p.m. by Chairman Oglesby. Those present were Commissioners Burdick, Banister, Dorsey and Oglesby. Also present were Gary Cobb and Walter Gordon.

 

Motion by Commissioner Burdick, 2nd by Commissioner Banister to go into executive session for the purpose of a) Real Estate, b) Personnel and c) Litigation. Vote 4-0. The resolution and affidavit as required by O.C.G.A. 50-14-2, 50-14-3 and 50-14-4(b) is recorded in the "2001-2002" minutes book.

 

Motion by Commissioner Banister, 2nd by Commissioner Burdick to go out of Executive Session. Vote 4-0.

 

1.                  FY02 Budget Policy

The BOC did not have any specific input to FY02 Budget Policy. They did ask that the Liability and Medical Insurance be bided.

 

2.                  BOE/BOC/DOT School Road Upgrade

After discussion, County Administrator was directed to respond to Lonnie Burns by letter stating we would be a conduit but could not fund the project. Also set up a joint BOE/BOC meeting to discuss details.

 

3.                  Governor's $600,000 Grant Funds

The county has received funds and they have been invested. Question is when to turn over to the Water Authority. Directed to put matter on the agenda.

 

4.                  Land Development Standards Ordinance Issue

Several issues were discussed in the area of when a small number of parcels are involved whether it would be better to handle Administratively.

 

5.         Proposed Re-appointment Map

            Letter from Athens Mayor discussed. No decisions reached.

 

6.         Landfill Update

BOC brought up to date on gas trench being built and that rock was encountered.

 

7.                  Road Issues

No date as yet on visit to the Capitol.

 

8.         June 12, 2001 Agenda Information

The issue of the three environmental ordinances were discussed. Based on information obtained by Greg Oglesby from the DCA, a request will be made to remove the 1st reading of the Wetlands Ordinance from the agenda.

 

Motion by Commissioner Burdick, 2nd by Commissioner Banister to adjourn. Vote 4-0. Time 6:20 p.m.
