5:00 p.m.

The Hart County Board of Commissioners met May 8th, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. in the Hart County Administrative & Emergency Services Center.

Chairman Joey Dorsey presided with Commissioners Randy Banister, Don Burdick and R. C. Oglesby in attendance. Commissioner Ken Brown joined the meeting late.

Chairman Dorsey called the meeting to order with the purpose to discuss 1%LOST renegotiations with the City of Hartwell.

Chairman Dorsey remarked that he felt that everyone should understand the 1%HOST thoroughly before pursuing that option.

Chairman Dorsey reported that the City of Hartwell unanimously agreed to seek 23% distribution.

Commissioner Oglesby recommended offering the City 20% and Chairman Dorsey concurred.  After discussing the issue it was agreed to offer the City 16% based on the tax digest.

Attorney Walter Gordon remarked that if an agreement is not reached on May 9th, 2002 the next consideration would be to begin arbitration or mediation.

Chairman Dorsey voiced his concern that the result of arbitration could recommend that the City of Hartwell get more than they are asking for.

The meeting adjourned.
