Owens, CPRP 200 Clay Street Recreation Dept Advisory Board By-laws *CLICK HERE* for 2011 Sports Program information and printable forms The Hart County Recreation Department (HCRD) strives to provide the citizens of Hart County with a wholesome, quality program of leisure activities and facilities for the enjoyment of all segments of the population and to continue to plan future programs and develop facilities to enhance the quality of life in Hart County. What's at the Park? The Hart County Recreation Department consists of 12+ acres of park facilities. Park facilities are open to the public and also available for rental for certain functions: contact HCRD for more information. Facilities include:
Four Ball Fields Recreation Department Services: Tennis Courts Additional Services: HYDRA HYDRA HYDRA is located in the Teen Center adjacent to the Recreation Department's main building. HYDRA offers a variety of programs for middle and high school students, including after-school and summer camp, Baby Think it Over, Tutoring and Mentoring programs. For more information, contact Wendy Chitwood @ 706-376-8899. The Boy Scout Hutis located in the Park. They meet Monday evenings at 6:30, for more information contact David Jenkins at 706-376-9025 Tennis Courts: HCRD maintains three (3) sets of double courts. Courts were reconstructed and resurfaced in Spring 2006. The Hartwell Tennis Club meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays @ 8:30 AM for group play. Public hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Weekdays. Contact the Recreation Office @ 706-376-8528 for more information. Swinging Harts Square Dance Classes classes are held every Thursday night at 7:00 pm. Dances are every first and third Friday. Contact Swingin' Harts @ 706-377-3753 or 706-376-5450 for more information. Basketball: The league is for ages 7 through 12(playing age prior to Jaunary 1). Contact the Recreation Office @ 706-376-8528 for more information. Registration fee and copy of birth certificate required at sign-up. Football Program: The league is for ages 7 through 12 (playing age prior to September 1). Contact the Recreation Office @ 706-376-8528 for more information. Registration fee and copy of birth certificate required at sign-up. Cheerleading The league is for ages 5 through 12 (playing age prior to September 1). Starter programs may be available for ages 4. Adult Softball Leagues consist of Co-ed, Men’s Open, Women’s, and Church. Contact the Recreation Office @ 706-376-8528 for more information, or click here. Little League (youth baseball/softball) Hart County Little League is a non-profit organization that operates the youth baseball and softball program in Hart County. The Recreation Department partners with Little League to use County Ball fields for Little Leagus's programs. Little League's sign-ups start late January.
