T he Hart
County Board of Commissioners has begun a new system of tracking
work orders for such things as fixing potholes etc. This new system
will allow us to instantly find your work order and give you the
status of it. This new system will also be much more efficient
allowing us to save tax dollars. You can also submit your work
order online.
Work orders
during this summer season will take longer to complete because
we are using your tax dollars to fix and pave roads while the
weather is warmer. Please be patient. This summer we are doing
the following:
Tar and Gravel
Paving of Dirt Roads (approximately 9 miles, $270,000)
This summer the following dirt/gravel roads will be surfaced with
Tar and Gravel by the Hart County Roads department. These roads
will not be widened or moved but a 6 inch stone base will be placed
before paving with tar and gravel. The ditches and shoulders will
be cleared prior to work beginning. This work will be done at
a fraction of the cost of a new asphalt road and will use funds
from sales taxes (SPLOST). Because of the cost savings, we will
be able to do 10 times the number of miles for the same price
as prior methods and we will be converting about 10% of our dirt
roads to pavement this year alone.
ROADS: Parker,
Rhodes, Blanton Shirley, Andrew Floyd (portion), Whitewood, Spears,
Miller, Somerset, Eastern, Jones-Bishop, Page road sections 1
& 2, Harbor Point, St. James (portion), Raindrop, Bailey Place,
Byrum Cemetery, Whiting, Evergreen, K-N-K, Price Chapel
Asphalt Resurfacing of Existing Paved Roads (Approximately 20
miles)
This summer the following paved roads will be resurfaced with
new pavement by a private contractor. The Hart County Roads department
will prepare the roads with patching and sealing. This work will
use funds from sales taxes (SPLOST), and grants obtained from
the GADOT.
ROADS: Old
Beacon Light (narrow section), Panorama, Junction 77, Delta Way,
Alderman, Walt Wilson, New Hope, Reed Creek School (portion),
Boleman Hill (portion), Eagle Grove School road (2 miles), Old
Elbert pt. 1 (from Royston Bypass, 1 mile), Reed Road, Deer Run
Sealing and
Resurfacing Existing Paved Roads (Approximately 30 miles)
Again this summer we will be resurfacing existing tar and gravel
roads and sealing cracked asphalt paved roads in compliance with
our long range roads plan. The Hart County Roads department will
be doing this work and it will be funded from sales taxes (SPLOST).
Please see our long range roads plan for more information.
